Our state-of-the-art planetarium, powered by DIGISTAR 6, offers an immersive journey through space. Explore distant galaxies, dive into the ocean depths, or travel back in time. With captivating shows for all ages, there's something for everyone. Shows run on weekends and throughout school holidays, or book a screening for a group.

Planetarium show schedule

NSW School Term 1 2026 (2 February - 2 April) - Weekends only

Shows run on weekends and throughout school holidays. All shows are 20 minutes in length. Tickets are required for all visitors aged 3 years and over.

11:45am - Tycho Goes to Mars (suitable for younger audiences)

1:15pm - Solar System Expedition (suitable for all ages)

2:00pm - Dinosaurs: A Story of Survival (suitable for younger audiences)

3:00pm - Capturing the Cosmos (suitable for older audiences)

Tycho goes to Mars

Join Tycho on an adventure to learn all about the major features of Mars, including the ancient volcano Olympus Mons and the canyons of the Valles Marineris.

Solar System Expedition

3, 2, 1.... BLAST OFF! Join our intergalactic flight assistant as we tour through our solar system and beyond. Visit planets, galaxies and more as we discover our place in Space. This interactive, live astronomy show is suitable for the whole family.

Dinosaurs: a story of survival

Celeste is fascinated with dinosaurs. She is preparing a talk for her class about how they went extinct when Moon, a very wise and magical character, poses a tantalising question: what if I told you that there are still dinosaurs among us? Celeste will join Moon in a journey through time. An exciting adventure that will show them the Earth as it was in the very, very distant past.

Capturing the Cosmos

Imagine being able to see more than astronomers have ever been able to see before. What would it be like to peer back in cosmic time, into the vast blackness of space and witness how the universe has evolved into what we see around us today? There's a whole lot of sky up there. And not only are we starting to discover what's in it, but we're starting to see how it all fits together. Created by Melbourne Planetarium in partnership with CAASTRO. Narrated by Academy Award-winner Geoffrey Rush.
